The Dutch hotel-night factor — live below — is among the higher figures in north-west Europe in the DESNZ 2026 table. The Netherlands has long run a gas-dominated grid; offshore wind is scaling fast, but the room-night average still reflects plenty of gas-fired electricity and heating.
Amsterdam is one of Europe's busiest city-break and conference destinations from the UK, and the arithmetic is consistent: the Eurostar or short flight to get there will usually outweigh two or three hotel nights. Even so, the Dutch factor is more than double France's for the identical stay.
