Free carbon footprint calculators
Measure your carbon footprint with official government emission factors — free
BlocCarbon's calculators use the UK DESNZ 2026 conversion factors and official food databases to measure travel, home energy, food, freight and event emissions — with every line of your result labelled with the official factor that produced it. Then, if you choose, fund verified climate projects by the tonne.

What can you measure?
Seven calculators cover the footprint that individuals and organisations most often need to measure. Each one shows a live running total and explains exactly which official factor produced every line.

How it works
Measure, understand, contribute
- 1Measure
Answer simple questions about your travel, energy, food or event. Your answers are measured against the official government factor sets — the same numbers used in corporate reporting.
- 2Understand
See your total in tonnes of CO2e, compare it with the UK average (about 6.2 tonnes per person per year), and inspect the factor behind every line.
- 3Contribute
If you choose, fund verified climate projects by the tonne. Your certificate states exactly what you funded — no “carbon neutral” badges, just the tonnes on the record.
For organisations
Branded footprint campaigns for your employees and customers
Invite employees or customers to measure their footprint on your own branded subdomain, embed or custom domain. Track participation and cohort emissions, settle project funding individually or centrally, and get compliant claims wording you can publish. Free for up to 100 verified participants a month.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Are BlocCarbon's calculators free?
- Yes. Every public calculator is free to use, with no account required. Organisations pay only for running branded campaigns at scale.
- Where do the emission factors come from?
- From official government sources: the UK DESNZ 2026 conversion factors (revised 31 July 2026) for energy, transport, freight, hotels, materials and waste; Agribalyse (ADEME/INRAE, France) and The Big Climate Database (CONCITO, Denmark) for food. Every calculation line records its factor and source.
- Does funding climate projects make me carbon neutral?
- No, and we won't tell you it does. Funding verified climate projects is a contribution to climate action, not an offset equivalence — regulators in the EU and UK treat "carbon neutral" claims based on offsets as misleading. We use contribution framing throughout: you fund X tonnes CO2e of verified climate projects.
- Can my organisation run a branded calculator campaign?
- Yes. BlocCarbon lets organisations invite employees or customers to measure their footprint on a branded subdomain or custom domain, track cohort progress, and settle funding individually or centrally.
